Guido Crepax
Rinaldo Ebasta - Bonnie E Clyde 45 (I have this framed on my wall and you don't; draw your own conclusions. The song itself is undoubtedly a contender for worst of all time, you can listen to it here.)

CF
Kites - Hallucination Guillotine/Final Worship (the mixed-media packaging for Kites albums makes them almost like mini-CF zines)

Bill Sienkewicz
RZA - Bobby Digital AND Kid Cudi - Man On The Moon (Sienkiewicz has done so much fantastic album art that I had to show two of his covers; his stylistic range on these things is also pretty impressive)
John Byrne
Joe Satriani - Surfing With The Alien (the kitsch factor on this bad boy iz off the charts)
Jonny Negron
Twin Sister tour 12"
Gary Panter
Frank Zappa - Studio Tan
Robert Crumb
Big Brother & the Holding Company - Cheap Thrills (this one is probably the most ubiquitous of all, but hey, classic cover for a reason)
Chris Bachalo
Wu Massacre: Meth, Ghost, & Rae
Al Columbia
Sebadoh/Azalia Snail split 7" (apparently this is the only published art to come out of Columbia's tenure on Alan Moore's Big Numbers, a story told in full here.)

Brian Chippendale
Black Pus - All Aboard The Magic Pus (Chippendale also does all the art for his other band, Lightning Bolt, but I figured people were less likely to have seen this one)

Feel free to drop links to images of your faves in comments -- I'll post 'em up if they aren't totally wack, and if I can find a good image, which is proving difficult. The first few are below, keep 'em coming.
Richard Corben
Meat Loaf - Bat Out Of Hell
Jaime Hernandez
7 Year Bitch - Gato Negro
* Michael DeForge links me to this crazy comic-in-multiple covers by Mike Royer, which is more or less the greatest thing I've ever seen.
Jamie Hewlett
Gorillaz - G-Sides
Daniel Clowes
The Supersuckers - The Smoke Of Hell

Don't forget Jamie McKelvie's Art Brut cover.
That Silver Surfer image is by John Byrne.

Here's a few that came to mind (or I found with a little digging) that might be worth looking at.

Jack Davis did quite a few album covers:

Of course Frank Frazetta did a few album covers in his day too:
Nazareth – Expect No Mercy

Wolfmother – Wolfmother (didn’t realize this was a Frazetta, but it makes sense really):

Also, would it be remiss to include Jamie Hewlett’s covers for Gorillaz?

Hmm... now I'm wishing I'd used TinyURL for some of those. Sorry about that.
Generally I dont feel comic book artist make good album covers. But some of these work very well. Sienkewicz certainly is also an illustrator so his work really stands out. Charles Burns has such a dark americana type of quality to his work that it fits almost everything.
Paul pope - Heavy Trash
nice selection! i've always been a fan of the covers to the Cruisin' compilations by Mike Royer, which tell a story as they go
http://leemichaelwithers.tripod.com/cruisin.htm
The Fever Ray cover is by Martin Ander not Charles Burns-
http://www.mander.nu/fever-ray/
Dan Clowes did the cover for the Supersuckers (Smoke of Hell) and the back cover for Urge Overkill's (Supersonic Storybook)...
What about this Kula Shaker cover by Phil Jimenez? http://www.amazon.co.uk/Summer-Sun-Ep-Kula-Shaker/dp/B000002C1S
I remember being deeply unsure about it at the time, even though I had hunted it down as I was crazy about what he was doing in the Invisibles.
Simon Bisley did Thrall: Demonsweatlive by Danzig (and some other covers)

kula shaker: can anybody get me a large size image?
